  • Carver County, Minnesota, Building Material Reuse Grants
  • Hennepin County, Minnesota, Build Reuse Grants
    • Purpose: To provide funding for deconstruction, structural moves, and reuse of building materials grants.
    • Grant amount: Up to $15,000 per project, depending on project scope.
    • Eligible entities: Owners or developers of a property located within Hennepin County, MN.
    • Ineligible entities: Deconstruction of accessory structures (such as garages and sheds).

    • Purpose: To provide funding for deconstruction and structural moves.

    • Purpose: Grants and low-interest loans are available to help businesses meet or exceed environmental regulations, and to cover costs associated with projects, equipment, investigation and cleanup.

    • Eligible entities: Not-for-profit and non-profit organizations, For-profit businesses, Institutions, Political subdivisions of the State (inc counties, cities, towns, etc.), State agencies in Minnesota.

NEW YORK

  • Restore New York Communities Initiative
    • Purpose: "The Restore New York Communities Initiative (“Restore NY”) provides municipalities with financial assistance for the revitalization of commercial and residential properties. The program encourages community development and neighborhood growth through the elimination and redevelopment of blighted structures."
    • Grant amount: 
    • Eligible entities: Applicants must: (1) Be initiated by municipalities (2) Demonstrate at least a 10% match (3) Hold a public hearing to discuss the application and the property assessment list
    • Status: 
      • Program Launch: Thursday February 22, 2024
      • Intent to Apply Form Due: Monday March 25, 2024, by 5:00pm EST
      • Final Application Due: Wednesday May 22, 2024, by 3:00pm EST

  • NYSAR3 Community Reuse Grants
    • Purpose: To provide funding to entities pursuing reuse-related initiatives. 
    • Grant amount: $1000 to $5000
    • Eligible entities: Community-based partnerships, businesses, groups, or non-profit organizations.
    • Ineligible entities: K-12 schools and colleges are not eligible for this particular grant, as NYSAR3 has separate grants for these entities. Recycling projects are not eligible.
    • Status: Application were due September 30, 2023.

OREGON

  • Oregon Materials Management Grants Program
  • Oregon Metro One-Time Reuse Funding
    • Purpose: "The goals of the one-time funding include:
      • Strengthen established waste reduction programs that collect and redistribute building supplies, furniture and large household items to those in need.
      • Expand opportunities for underserved populations to access low- or no-cost building supplies, furniture and large household items.
      • Advance racial equity in the reuse sector or through services and programs."
    • Grant amount: "Organizations may apply for up to 15% of their annual budget that is directed toward collecting and/or distributing building supplies, furniture and large household items. The maximum allowable request is $200,000."
    • Eligible entities: "Organizations must meet the following criteria to be considered for the one-time funding:
      • Be a nonprofit with tax exempt status or have a fiscal sponsor with tax exempt status.
      • Be located within the Metro boundary area. 
      • Collect or redistribute building supplies, furniture and large household items. Reuse or repair of these items must be a significant part of the organization’s programs and services.
      • Provide programs and services that benefit underserved communities.
      • Be experiencing financial hardship or operational deficiencies."

  • District of Columbia Donation and Reuse Award Program
    • Purpose: To fund projects that reduce needless waste and increase diversion of reusable material, including edible food, from landfills and incineration through donation or reuse.
    • Grant amount: Up to $10,000
    • Eligible entities: Nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, government agencies, universities/educational institutions, or private enterprises.
    • Ineligible entities: Projects that do not serve District residents, businesses, and/or other entities.
    • Status: The deadline for applications was November 9, 2023, at 6:00 PM EDT.
